I think I just 'hate' metal, cause I can't stand stuff like Slayer or Slipknot, those guys are tossers and I see no beauty or talent in their music.

But I enjoy Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Megadeth, System of a Down, AC/DC (odd one out in this list maybe), Tenacious D and a large amount of songs of Metallica

As long as they still sing, maybe with rough voices, but sing, and don't scream or roar or do other faggy stuff for the whole 2 friggin minutes.

Screaming or roaring can only last a few seconds, and the entire friggin song should serve as a build up to that crescendo of voices and guitars. And you still have to understand wth they're on about.

Rieper I agree with you but you are a little confused.

There are two separate genres: Metal/Thrash Metal are different than Death Metal

Metal: Black Sabbath, Motorhead, ACDC
Thrash: Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Slayer

Slayer does not have that much screaming; some of their songs can be pretty melodic.

Death metal is the shit about people screaming with no actual talent. Don't confuse this with grunge though (Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots) because that is the heavy music with some slight screaming that is very melodic and almost qualifies as metal.

Btw, I'm just gonne quote Lemmy, who pretty much speaks my mind on the subject.

Though the band are typically classified as heavy metal or speed metal, Lemmy has stated that he never considered Motörhead a metal band. When asked if he has a problem with Motörhead being called a metal band, he replied: "I do, because I come from way before Metal. I’m playing Rock n’ Roll and I think Rock n’ Roll should be sacred – it is to me. I don’t see why it should not be for everybody else."

I cannot respect screamo fans. The reason that those bands qualify as metal is because they involve intricate guitar-centered music with more than one guitarist. Death metal does not qualify as real metal because it is centered around the vocalist.

I refuse to tune my guitar down unless it is for grunge. Them Bones by Alice in Chains tuned to C# and it is a sweet song.

My main problem with death metal is just that. I have seen some very talented musicians waste it on death metal when they could be shredding thrash metal that sounds wicked good. When megadeth's new album comes out with Chris Broderick you will hear some REAL shredding.
